Second Dawn

[Cambot has zoomed into a green mug of hot cocoa with a peppermint stick sticking out of it. It slowly zooms out, revealing another one next to it with an orange slice on the rim. As it continues to zoom out, it shows Riku, hair in a ponytail and wearing blue hooded robes.]

If my folks taught me one thing, it's how to take hot chocolate and make it really good. If anyone wants to try some, see me. I don't use the synthesizers.

[Christmas music starts playing.]

Hey, knock that off, it's not-- [The feed cuts out.]

She gives him a sympathetic look.]

Yes, but we can always try to enjoy it?

[Cambot follows as she starts walking to the cafeteria.]

I'll be there in a minute.

[Inorite?]

[He pauses, then smiles a bit.] Yeah. Here, I think we can. [He quirks an eyebrow a little, noting that'd come from a Nobody. An interesting observation.]

See ya.

[Namine is making those kind of observations more and more these days. Thinky thoughts, she has them!]

[Namine arrives at the cafeteria with Cambot in tow.]

It's a bit different, isn't it? Having time to spend like this.

[She sits down across from him.]

[Riku is a fan of thinky thoughts. He thinks them often.]

[Cambot shows Riku making a little wave-like gesture as he takes a sip from his mug.]

It is. ...It feels like I'm not doing something I need to. [He gets up to go get a mug after looking out a window a couple seconds.]

Raspberry, right?

[They need to compare notes/musings.]

[Cambot is dutifully recording every bit of this, including Namine studying her hands while she answers Riku.]

I know there's something I should be doing, but I can't do it from here.

[Then she smiles up at him.]

Yes, please.

[On the warmer than warm sweet drinky things?]

[Riku pauses to look at her. He gives Namine an reassuring look.] Well, it's obvious you get it done.

[He gathers some things, puts them together and pops the mug in the microwave. After a few seconds thought, he gets out a tea stirrer and skewers some raspberries and marshmallows on it.] Want any whipped cream?

[Those and others~]

[She smiles back.] Not without some help.

[Ooo, they're being fancy.] Sure.

[So many new things to try here.]

[And it will be fun! :3]

[He returns it with a bit of a smirk.] Not like I could really fix his memories.

You got it. [Girls like that sort of thing, why not? He pulls out a can of whipped cream and cups his hand around the nozzle as he sprays some on top, making sure miscellaneous extra spray doesn't fly all over the counter. He brings it over to her, setting it down gently on the table. He moves over to the sink to wash his hands, licking the whipped cream off his hand as he does so.]

[Yes it will.]

[The smiles dims a bit. Yes, it was something only she could do, but she was responsible for the damage done in the first place.] But you kept us safe. I don't think I ever said thank you for that.

[She brightens again after receiving the hot chocolate.] Thanks.

[For a moment she looks confused as to where to start. She ends up choosing the raspberries and marshmallows.] These are really good!

[His smile dims slightly, too.] ...It was the least I could do for you. ...For him.

[He gives her a smile in return.]

I gotta hand it to 'em, we might be stuck here, but at least the fruit's fresh.

[Namine looks surprised at first, then smiles softly before turning her attention back to her hot chocolate.]

Some of them I haven't even tried before.

[She takes a sip.]

The chocolate's good, too.

[She now has a bit of a whipped-cream-and-chocolate mustache.]

Really. What haven't you... Tried? [He paused slightly at the drink-induced mustache. He looks amused.]

[Namine looks a bit confused by his amusement, but answers the question.]

Most of them. Apples and bananas were the easiest things to get...

[Yeah, when it comes to food, the list of things she HAS tried is pretty short, due to various circumstances.]

[He caught the look. Riku, still smiling, runs his finger along his upper lip before licking his lips.]

Fair enough. [He looks thoughtful a second.] Have you ever tried apple cider?

[Namine wipes her mouth with her hand and realizes what he found amusing. She blushes a bit as she wipes her hand on a napkin and hunts for a spoon to eat the whipped cream with.]

I don't think so. I mostly only got water to drink.

Is it good, too?

Cambots are so nice... Though Riku's is a bit special, but...

He's just lucky that way. X3
