Second Dawn

[Cambot has zoomed into a green mug of hot cocoa with a peppermint stick sticking out of it. It slowly zooms out, revealing another one next to it with an orange slice on the rim. As it continues to zoom out, it shows Riku, hair in a ponytail and wearing blue hooded robes.]

If my folks taught me one thing, it's how to take hot chocolate and make it really good. If anyone wants to try some, see me. I don't use the synthesizers.

[Christmas music starts playing.]

Hey, knock that off, it's not-- [The feed cuts out.]

What else're you trying? [Cambot follows Sora as she starts heading in Riku's direction.]

[Cambot comes on and he's lowering the orange mug, pressing his lips together to lick them.] Caramel in a while.

Ohhh wow, that looks really good...

[He finally notices that ponytail, and raises an eyebrow] What'd you do with your hair there, Riku?

I'll make you a mug when you get up here.

[He raises an eyebrow back.] What's it look like? I'm keeping my hair out of the food.

All right! [He's almost there anyway.]

[Sora can't help but smile knowingly a bit...but then again, he's never had to worry about hair in his food.] Maybe you should think about cutting it.

[Riku just shrugs and smirks back.] Maybe when you consider a less-dangerous hairstyle.

Hey, this is what my hair does on its own anyway! And it's not dangerous!

[His walking finally brings his up to where Riku is making the hot chocolate.]

My hair grows on its own. Funny thing about that.

[Riku is seen turning towards Sora, arms crossed and raising a brow at him.]

So does mine, but it doesn't grow into my eyes or my food!

[Sora walks up to him, and takes up a mug of his own. Man, that chocolate smells good.]

So what other stuff do you have here?

No, instead you look more and more electrocuted.

[Riku moves over to get more supplies.]

I can make peppermint real easy, and there's orange and raspberry. I can try the caramel one now, if you want, but I don't know how it'll turn out.

Whaaat? It does not!

Sure, I can try the caramel one. Then maybe add orange or peppermint to it!

It did get worse after you met Larxene... [The sarcasm is so thick it could be cut with a knife.]

[He raises his brow.] Let's see how it turns out first before I add anything other than caramel. [He's mixing some milk with the caramel in a separate container first.]

[Sora just gives him an eyebrow.] Larxene? I don't remember that anyway.

Oh, fine. Caramel's good just by itself, too.

I could have told you she stick your tongue in a light-socket.

We can try it, just after one of us does a taste test. [He pops the milk and caramel in the microwave along with a mug of cocoa. After a few seconds, he pulls out the milk and caramel and mixes it up until it's gooey. He then pour a little into the hot chocolate and mixes it up as best he can. After a moment, he brings it over.] Tell me what you think. If you like it as is, I'll bring over some marshmallows or whipped cream.

...Somehow, I think if I forgot all that, I'd still remember that.

[He takes the mug when Riku offers it to him, and gives the chocolate a whiff.] All right!

[Sora takes a sip...it's rather thick, but as far as taste goes, it's pretty hard to get chocolate, milk and caramel wrong. Sora grins.] Really good! Pretty filling, too.

...That comment makes sense. [Sarcasm much?]

[Riku smiles back.] So, do you really think it needs orange or mint? [He goes over to grab the bag of mini marshmallows and the whipped cream.]

[Sora rolls his eyes...makes as much sense as anything else Riku has told him, considering he can't remember!]

Umm, maybe a little bit of orange! Just to see how it is.

You can help yourself to the whip and the marshmallows. That way you get exactly how much you want. [Riku comes over with a spoon and some orange extract, and sets the bag and the can within Sora's reach. He takes Sora's mug and holds it up, carefully pouring a drop of extract into it like a scientist mixing chemicals. After setting it back down, he gives it a quick stir.] If the caramel weren't in it I'd've used more. [He holds the spoon over his hand in case it drips.]

[Sora just watches Riku put this together, a little amused by how seriously he's treating the mixing. But then again, Sora would probably just throw a few things in together and see how it tasted. In the meanwhile, he just grabs a few marshmallows.]

I don't think it'll need that many! [He drops the marshmallows in, and takes another sip of the chocolate.] Huh...interesting!

[Riku cocked his head subtly as if it would give him better insight on the flavor.] Interesting good or interesting bad?

[Sora takes another sip...it's still pretty hot.] Interesting good! Sweet and tart together kinda.

Huh. [He looks down at his own drink, already chocolate orange.] Must be the caramel to contrast it. [Curious, he goes over to prepare to add some caramel to his.]

It is pretty good! [Sora takes another sip, and then just sits back to relax and listen to the rain.]

[After a couple minutes of tinkering and reheating his drink, Riku blows on his cocoa and takes a sip.} Huh. You're right. That's not bad at all.
