Eighth Theft

[Zidane has retreated down to the launch deck - one of the only places not affected by whatever curse this was - after spending too much time on the theatrical deck. He's currently perched in the pipework on the ceiling, probably not a surprise to anyone who knows him, but a very long trail of golden blond hair is falling almost all the way down to the floor from his perch. All in all it's over twice as long as he is tall.]

[And he just so happens to have a couple of knives.]

[...Which aren't working.]

Damnit! How did Dagger do this?

[He's used to having longer hair, but this is ridiculous. He's left the tie in to keep it all together, but his knife refuses to cut through a single strand, instead just sawing back and forth or slipping down the hair river all together. He's getting frustrated, to say the least.]

Anyone got a pair of magical scissors or something? Anything?

[Namine looks up from the floor below. Her hair is at least out her face, but looks like it could compete with hers for length.]

Umm...It might be easier for us to help if you come down.

Nothing's gonna help this. [He sheathes his dagger with a huff, because really it's not doing any good. But he looks down at her and he's kind of got a silly smile on.] Maybe someone'll think we're related now, though.

[She smiles back.]

Because we both have long hair?

Long, straight, blond hair. Even up here there's not a whole lot of people like that.

[And their combined hair is getting way past the ridiculous point at this point.]

So what are we going to do with all of this?

[He's right on both counts--there really aren't a lot of people with long, straight blond hair on the satellite, and the length IS getting ridiculous.]

I'm not sure.

[If only they'd made the connection sooner, instead of sticking around up there to try and use the scissors to cut it.]

I'm almost tempted to see if it can be burned. Even if burning hair smells gods-awful.

But then other things might catch fire, too.

That's why we'd do it here, where everything's metal. If you want metal to catch on fire you'd better be in a volcano.

What about clothes?

That's why we'd start at the very end, way far away from any clothing. We've got at least eighteen feet of hair between us and we can't cast any magic up here, I'd say we're safe as long as we keep a bucket of water around.

[Tilts her head in thought.]

Maybe...Though it's just for the week.

[She can deal with it for that long.]

You're a lot more patient than I am. [He's giving up - for now.] You really are like my sister sometimes.

I guess so.

[Patience or the lack thereof has never crossed her mind--she just knows that if she bears up under things, they usually clear up. Especially here.

His second statement catches her by surprise.]

Sister? I didn't know you had a sister.

[Yup, patience. That thing Zidane only has sometimes.]

Uh-huh - she's four years younger than me, but we look like twins. Although all of us look like twins, really, so I guess that's not that much of a stretch. Her name's Mikoto.

[Sometimes is better than none of the time.]

Maybe I'll get to meet her sometime.

You said "all of us"--so you have other sisters or brothers?
