Sixth sunrise

[Ammy looks worried again, although now it's for entirely different reasons. She whines, and holds up a drawing depicting the little puppy version of her, complete with a little sun, and a question mark.]

[Has anyone seen her son, Chibi? She hasn't seen or smelled him around the ship since they finished the riffing.]

[Namine notices the curious look.]

What is it?

[Once she realizes that Namine hasn't picked up on her question yet, she goes and pulls out her paintbrush to help demonstrate.]

[The paintbrush is a good hint.]

Oh! You want to paint something. Well, we'll need to get some supplies.

[She nods, and stands a little straighter. That means they'd have to find the theatrical deck.]

[Namine leads the way! Once there, it's time to see what's available and what Ammy wants to paint.}

Something like last time?

[She nods. Maybe she can show Namine another part of Nippon. As for materials, she can work with anything Namine wants, although paint and ink is the easiest.]

Okay.

[Ink and paint is just fine. Down goes the tarp and large piece of paper. Then she gets out paints--all the same colors they used last time, plus a few more in case they're needed.]

[Ammy sniffs over the large piece of paper, trying to decide what to paint. She finally decides to paint the Sasa Sanctuary, and picks up a brush to do so.]

[She starts with a view of the outside of the sanctuary, a strange building surrounded by small ponds and bamboo.]

[Nami watches as Ammy outlines something a little different from the village they'd painted last time. It's a good thing she got out the other colors, then. Once Ammy's finished, it's her turn.]

What colors do we need this time?

[Ammy thinks for a little bit, and then goes to the paints and pulls out various shades of green, blue, brown and white. Mostly, they'll need green and blue. She also pulls out purple for one extra thing, and goes to add it to the painting: an image of a flag over the sanctuary's door with a picture of a sparrow on it.]

[Namine opens up the paints and gets a palette for mixing.]

Can you help me mix the colors? And show me where they go?

[She knows Ammy can't mix colors herself, but can show her which colors should be put together and let her know when she'd got the right shade.]

[Ammy nods. She nudges certain colors together...maybe some green with the brown, to make the roof a dark green color. A bright green with some white and brown in it would go in for the bamboo. The mountains surrounding the sanctuary are brown, while the walls of it are a lighter brown. She also indicates that the purple is for the flag, then goes to add a couple more things to the picture: several hot spring pools behind the sanctuary.]

[Once Ammy has finished, Nami starts to paint. She begins with the flag, since it's only one color and not as large as the others. Next come the browns for the mountains and the walls. Then she starts mixing the colors for the roof and bamboo and colors those.

By the time she's finished, Ammy's probably done with the hot spring pools. ]

[Ammy finishes up the hot springs, with a few lines rising from them to show that they are hot. The pools are also surrounded with more bamboo. She nudges the correct colors towards Namine, too...blue-green for the pools, and more green for the bamboo.]

[Nami doesn't even need to guess where the blue-green goes--it's fairly obviously for the water. Then she finishes up the last of the bamboo.

She sits back to look at the finished painting and smiles. It looks like a dark place, but not a bad kind of dark.]

Is this another place you've been to a lot?

[Ammy nods. She's been to the sanctuary a few times, and it's a very nice place to relax...even if she doesn't like the hot springs herself.]

[She takes up her brush and adds a couple more things to finish it off...a couple of sparrow-people tending the springs and guarding the entrance, to show that the sanctuary is run by the sparrow clan.]

[Namine has seen sparrows before, so she knows what color to use for them. She's not too surprised to see that the owners of the sanctuary are animals as well.]

[Ammy looks it over, pleased with the results. She nods...may as well start to fill up this place with more of their combined works!]

[She offers scritches.]

[Ammy thumps her tail. She's glad they got to paint together again...she already feels better.]
